The Intercultural Magazine [Hamawave] is now available online! (2020-08-27)

Hello everyone! I am Daniel Huynh, Coordinator of International Relations (CIR) at the International Affairs Division in Hamamatsu City Hall and the Hamamatsu Foundation for International Communication (HICE). I’m from Birmingham, England.

I would like to introduce you to the HAMAWAVE, the monthly magazine written by Hamamatsu CIRs, which will be available online starting this month. In this magazine, Le Vi Pham, my co-CIR who hails from Singapore, and I introduce our respective countries, cultures and write about our lives in Japan.

For our new readers, CIRs are foreign participants recruited under the Japan Exchange and Teaching Program who are then dispatched to local governments around Japan to engage in international exchange activities. The Hamamatsu CIRs are responsible for translation, interpretation, event coordination, and writing and editing the HAMAWAVE.

In this issue of HAMAWAVE, Le Vi reflects on her first year in Japan, I write about my favourite Studio Ghibli film, Princess Mononoke and we compare messaging apps around the world.
