【Course Overview】
Students will understand the structure, pronunciation, and expressions of Korean characters (Hangul), and aim to build a foundation in speaking, listening, and other basic skills. They will also touch on culture and society, and develop an understanding not only of the language, but also of different cultures.
【Learning Goals】
Students will learn basic words and expressions used in everyday life, and aim to become able to introduce themselves, have basic conversations when traveling, have conversations when shopping, and do simple reading and writing.
【Class Schedule】
Session 1 Orientation, basic knowledge of the Korean language
Session 2 Writing system: basic vowels and consonants
Session 3 Writing system: “Batchim”
Session 4 Greeting expressions
Session 5 Self introduction expressions
Session 6 vocabulary related to family and relatives
Session 7 Numbers, native Korean numbers and numbers of Chinese origin
Session 8 Dates, days of the week, and words expressing location
Session 9 Food and related vocabulary
Session 10 Hobbies and sports
Session 11 Transportation related vocabulary
Session 12 Shopping expressions and related topics
