Driving License and Traffic Accidents

In order to drive in Japan, you need either a Japanese driving license or an international driving license issued by a country that is a signatory to the Geneva Conventions (you must be at least 18 years old). If you wish to convert your overseas driver’s license into a Japanese driver’s license, you will need to apply at the Driver’s License Center (unten menkyo senta).
